It’s finally spring and that means one thing and one thing only – wedding season is right around the corner! The invites are trickling in and the countdown is on, so now’s the time to get a few stylish wedding guest ensembles together. But as anyone who’s ever tried to shop for a suitably stylish but subtle outfit can attest to, that’s easier said than done. First, there’s the pressure of knowing that your chosen look will be immortalised in the lovely couple’s wedding album. Get it wrong and it’ll haunt you forever.
And then, you’ve also got to make sure you don’t clash with the bridal colours OR upstage the bridal party, which is even trickier. So to help you avoid sartorial disaster, we’ve done the hard work for you and hunted through online fashion retailer AX Paris to find some chic wedding guest outfits.
Here’s our pick of five prom dresses perfect for the big day…
#1: baby blue lace dress
Vintage styles always work well for weddings, but the skater shape of this nude lace dress gives it a modern edge. A subtle nod to classic 50s silhouettes, the nipped-in bodice and full skirt will emphasise your waist without being too restrictive (you want to enjoy the three-course reception dinner, after all). It’s the romantic and delicate lace detailing we’ve really fallen in love with, though.
#2: navy wrap around dress
Wrap dresses are super flattering on most body shapes, exaggerating curves and skimming over problem areas. This navy midi option doesn’t disappoint. The capped sleeves and fitted waist will draw eyes to all the right places, whilst the subdued colour gives it some sophistication. Wear it with strappy heels and understated jewellery, to finish the look off perfectly.
#3: 2 in 1 printed skater dress
With a comfy skater skirt, pale pink colour and off-the- shoulder neckline, this 2 in 1 printed beauty ticks all the boxes for a trendy and chic wedding guest dress. For an extra edge, pair it with this season’s hottest accessory – fluffy footwear. Rocked by the likes of Gigi Hadid, they’ll add a little fun to your day. Just try to avoid spilling champagne on them or they won’t last long.
#4: champagne slinky midi dress
If you’re a fan of bodycon but worried that it might be a bit too revealing for a wedding, look no further than this slinky, champagne coloured dress. It’s still got the curve-skimming fit you love, whilst the long sleeves and midi length keep it modest. We think it’ll work best with low-key makeup and simple hair, so go for a nude lipstick (any one from Charlotte Tilbury will do the trick) and glossy waves.
#5: cropped overlay floral midi
Don’t be nervous to go for bold colours and patterns, so long as you keep the silhouette sleek and simple it won’t end up being too over-the- top. Take this overlay midi dress, for example. Its daring floral pattern is balanced out by its fuss-free bodycon fit. Wear it with block coloured court shoes and a plain clutch bag to let its pretty design do all the talking.
